I worked on the iconic site of Jabal Ithlib, a real and culturally significant location faithfully reproduced in Assassin’s Creed.
-
We received high-resolution 3D scans of the original site, provided by Ubisoft’s historical experts. Starting from this raw data, I reconstructed and optimized the entire area to make it fully playable while preserving as much authenticity and detail as possible despite technical constraints.
-
Initially, only the right section of the site, including the tomb was meant to be produced, with the left side relying on reused assets. Wanting to fully capture the iconic nature of the passage, I proposed rebuilding the entire area, including the left section. The idea was approved, and I was given significant technical and artistic freedom as long as the result remained historically accurate.
-
This environment holds a special importance in the final game, as it is here that Basim shares an emotional and pivotal conversation with his father — making the authenticity and atmosphere of the site even more meaningful.
